About CrossBlock
CrossBlock is a free Chrome extension that hides ads, pop-ups and trackers as pages load. It is maintained by a small team of developers who wanted a cleaner web for themselves and shared it with everyone else.
Built for normal browsing
CrossBlock was written because the big blockers had become heavy and full of settings nobody uses. One switch, that is all it should take.
Everything happens locally
Blocking rules are compiled into the extension and run inside Chrome. There is no server, no account, no update check that phones home with your habits.
Free and open
The whole extension is plain JavaScript you can read line by line. No premium tier, no affiliate deals with advertisers, no 'acceptable ads' program.
Curious how the blocking works under the hood, or want to report a site that slips through? Get in touch — the mailbox is read by the people who write the code.
